RESEARCH

In 2021, Marcus was accepted into the Doctor of Creative Arts at the University of Southern Queensland.

His research is focused on establishing a model of practice for actors working with classical play texts to understand and activate rhetoric embedded in the writing, as a means to deepen and personalise analysis and inhabitation of character, text, and story.

In 2024, he worked with a group of professional actors from South East Queensland to test his theories and build his model of practice, and interviewed national and international Shakespeare, rhetoric, and voice practitioners to inform his approach.

He is supervised by Dr Darryl Chalk, along with Professor Laurie Johnson and Associate Professor Janet McDonald.

He is scheduled to complete his research in 2025.

Once Marcus' research is finalised and submitted, information will be provided here on training opportunities to work with Marcus to learn his original methodologies for analysing and activating rhetoric in Shakespearean writing.
