RESEARCH

Marcus will complete his Philosophy Doctorate (PhD) in 2025, through the University of Southern Queensland.

His research is focused on establishing a model of practice for actors working with classical play texts to understand and activate rhetoric embedded in the writing, as a means to deepen and personalise analysis and inhabitation of character, text, and story.

In 2024, he worked with a group of professional actors from South East Queensland to test his theories and build his model of practice, and interviewed national and international Shakespeare, rhetoric, and voice practitioners to inform his approach.

He is supervised by Dr Darryl Chalk, along with Professor Laurie Johnson and Associate Professor Janet McDonald .

ACADEMIC PRESENTATIONS

Once Marcus has completed his research, information will be made available on training opportunities to learn his original approach for analysing and activating rhetoric in Shakespearean writing.

Marcus is available for guest lectures, workshops, and key note addresses relating to his fields of study and expertise.
